Islam is a religion of ease and tolerance.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Religion is ease, and no one will make religion too hard except that it will overcome him. So, be moderate, follow the right path, and rejoice. Seek help (of the journey) in the morning, afternoon, and a part of the night."
Sahih al-Bukhari - No: 39
The great scholar Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "And no one will make religion too hard except that it will overcome him." This means that whoever seeks extremism in religion will be overcome and defeated, and will become tired and weary, and then regret it and abandon it. That is, if you make religion too hard and seek extremism, religion will overcome you, and you will perish, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The extremists are doomed," narrated by Muslim.
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "So, be moderate, follow the right path, and rejoice." Moderate means: do things in a balanced and correct way. If that is not possible, then follow the right path. This is why he said: "And follow the right path." The 'and' here means 'or', meaning be moderate if possible, and if not, then follow the right path.
And rejoice: meaning, rejoice that if you are moderate and correct, or follow the right path, then rejoice in the great reward, goodness, and help from Allah Almighty. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do this often, giving his companions glad tidings of what would please them. Therefore, a person should be keen to bring joy to his brothers as much as he can, through good news, cheerfulness, and other means.
