Dragon fruit, as its name suggests, resembles a dragon. It grows on a climbing cactus plant known as Hylocereus, which can be found in tropical regions. The outer shell of the dragon fruit is in shades of red, pink, or yellow. Its leaves resemble a dragon's and have spines that rise like flames around the fruit. Hylocereus originally grew in southern Mexico and Central and South America, and the French brought it to Southeast Asia in the early 19th century. The inside of the dragon fruit is a semi-firm white fruit that can be eaten with a spoon and is sprinkled with walnut-like seeds.
