The pen was distinguished by an innovative writing mechanism, despite the challenge of combining an oval shape with ink feeding. Later, the fountain pen appeared with the same design (1979) after the success of the ballpoint pen, and multiple versions with different finishes became available. The most famous is the gold-plated Vend eighborhood;me pen, with an oval body and a decoration of three intertwined rings, featuring a unique side clip mechanism that operates with a light press on the top of the cap. It was officially launched in Sicily amidst a lavish celebration, embodying Cartier's distinctive style: a blend of classic luxury and boldness. Later, silver versions with different engravings appeared, followed by a fountain pen version despite the shape's difficulty.
