A large original French manuscript, handwritten on parchment, dating back to 1484 AD, signed and sealed with a white seal in the lower right corner.
The text begins with a standard legal formula common in French administrative and judicial works of that period: "A tous ceulx qui ces lettres verront..." (To all who see these letters...).
* Principal figures: The first line identifies Jehan Loury, described as "escuyer" (squire) and "sire" (lord) in a specific region, possibly "Loire" or "Loir".
* Purpose: Documents of this type were typically used to record land transactions, property rights, or legal agreements between parties.
A later archival note is found at the bottom of one of the pages, reading "Cotte 38 B", used for indexing the document within a private or governmental collection.
This document is entirely handwritten, but there is some fading of the writing in places.
It shows some stains and creases due to being folded and stored for hundreds of years. It has some minor wear and discoloration, and is in very good condition overall.
