The Book of Animals is the first comprehensive book written in Arabic on the science of animals. Its author, Al-Jahiz, discussed the Arabs, their conditions, customs, claims, sciences, as well as some issues of jurisprudence and religion, the chosen selection of Arabic poetry, proverbs, eloquence, and critique of speech.
